The Story of the Poetess Asma bint [daughter of] Marwan and her Death *

There was a poetess [in Medina] who wrote a poem against Mohammed and his new way of life, Islam. Mohammed said, “Who will rid me of Marwan’s daughter?”  One of his followers heard him and on that very night went to the woman’s home and killed her.

The assassin was able to do the work in the dark as the woman slept.  Her other children lay in the room, but her babe lay on her breast.  The stealthy assassin removed the child and drove the knife into her with such force that he pinned her to the bed.
In the morning, he went to Mohammed and told him [what he’d done].  Mohammed said, “You have helped Allah and his Apostle.”  When asked about the consequences, Mohammed said, “Two goats won’t butt their heads together over this.”

Mohammed turned to the people in the mosque.  He said, “If you wish to see a man who has assisted Allah and his Prophet, look ye here.”  Omar cried, “What, the blind Omeir?”

“No,” said Mohammed, “call him Omeir the Seeing.”

According to my count the Sunnah and Sirah reveal the Muhammad was a serial killer. He had killed at least 22 persons who spoke out against him.

  2. Shafaz says:

I copied this from this site: muftisays.com/qa/question/2144/asma-bint-marwan.html
    It clearly clears this misunderstanding.

Ibn Sa’d’s Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir describes the death of Asma bint Marwan:

“Then (occurred) the Sariyyah of Umayr ibn adi Ibn Kharashah al-Khatmi against Asma Bint Marwan, of Banu Umayyah Ibn Zayd, when five nights had remained from the month of Ramadan, in the beginning of the nineteenth month from the Hijrah of the apostle of Allah. Asma was the wife of Yazid Ibn Zayd Ibn Hisn al-Khatmi. She used to revile Islam, offend the Prophet and instigate the (people) against him. She composed verses. Umayr Ibn Adi came to her in the night and entered her house. Her children were sleeping around her. There was one whom she was suckling. He searched her with his hand because he was blind, and separated the child from her. He thrust his sword in her chest till it pierced up to her back. Then he offered the morning prayers with the Prophet at al-Medina. The apostle of Allah said to him: “Have you slain the daughter of Marwan?” He said: “Yes. Is there something more for me to do?” He [Muhammad] said: “No. Two goats will butt together about her. This was the word that was first heard from the apostle of Allah. The apostle of Allah called him Umayr, “Basir” (the seeing).

    (Ibn Sa’d’ Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir, translated by S. Moinul Haq, volume 2, page 31 )

Some scholars consider this story to be a forgery because the only sources for the story are Ibn Ishaq’s Sira and Ibn Sa’d’s Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir. Also, one of the reporters in the chain of narration, Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj, is known for fabricating Hadiths.

Ibn ‘Adiyy mentions this incident in his book “Al-Kamal” on the authority of Ja’far Ibn Ahmad Ibn Muhammad Ibn As-Sabah on authority of Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim Ash-Shami on authority of Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj Al-Lakhmi on authority of Mujalid on authority of Ash-Shu’abi on authority of Ibn ‘Abbas, and added that

“…this Isnad (chain of reporters) is not narrated on authority of Mujalid but by Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj and they all (other reporters in the chain) accuse Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj of forging it.” (Ibn ‘Adiyy, Al-Kamal, Vol. 6, p. 145)

In the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa sallam) prohibits the killing of women in war. (note: in Islam a women can only be put to death if she commited murder as crime)

Narrated Ibn ‘Umar: Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) saw the corpse of a woman who had been slain in one of the raids, and he disapproved of it and forbade the killing of women and children. (Bukhari, Vol. 4, Bk. 52, No. 257 & 258).

Due to this prohibition, scholars of Abu Hanifah’s Madhab (school of thought) have stated that apostate women are not to be killed because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) forbade the killing of women, and since the prohibition is general it includes apostate women. (Sharh Ad-Durr-el-Mukhtar, Volume 1, p. 483, ‘Ainul Hidayah commentary of Al Hidayah Vol. 2 Pg. 585)

Even after the Prophet’s demise, his Sunnah remain preserved by the Muslims:

Abu Bakr advised Yazid: “I advise you ten things: Do not kill women or children or an aged, infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camel except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly.” (Mutta Malik, Book 21, Section 3, Number 10)

Therefore, based on the evidences, we can therefore conclude that the killing of Asma’ bint Marwan are false.

    Thank you for your comment.

I consider most of the Koran and sunnah false and the chain of validation a farce. However, Islam is known historically for murdering artists and intellectuals who question the validity of its teachings. Therefore, the story of Asma Marwan, whether true or false, can be considered an ideological myth of Islam and an embodiment of its doctrine.

  4. tya says:

i agree to protect woman, but its silly if disturbing other people faith. every people who had large knowledge will said its stupid to do. how we can made a nice world if we disturb each other?
well, begin from the small things
    begin from your self
    and begin from now

  5. sary says:

well dear, Islam is not only one. it had a lot of thing inside, a lot of think, a lot of ways, a lot of rule….i learn bout many religion in this world for entire my life and know what the false things? people. not the religion.
yeah, u must learn more about Islam before doubt it. what was u write on there is a material for elementary student. its mean, ur knowledge bout Islam not large enough to doubt. just come to Islamic country such as Maroko, Cairo, Brunei Darussalam, Austria and Indonesia. live between Islamic people, find Islamic university or school, discuss anything as people who want to know to many Islamic people or lecture there and learn more. then you can doubt it after u finish ur study there. u must become part of them before doubting….

    thanks…:)

  6. Asma Marwan says:

Thank you for your comment, sary.

You are right. It is the religion that shapes the believers. And it is for this reason I encourage everyone to read the Koran, the hadith of Bukhari and the Sira, the biography of Mohammed. If they do they will understand the entire doctrine of Islam and its body of law, the sharia. Studying what Muslims say is like trying to hold the wind in your hand. Only when you know and understand Mohammed, do you know Islam, for Allah said over and over again that Mohammed is the perfect pattern for Islam.

So I don’t need to go to Islamic countries to study Muslims. I read the source documents and watch the internet to find out the interpretations of doctrine by sheiks, imams and mulllahs.

  7. Anggun Astuty says:

It is not fair to judge a whole religion based on one hadith. In Islam there are different kind of hadith. There is shahih hadith, that already proven coming from Prophet’s mouth. Back then where there is no way rot record things up, people onl;y use their memory, which is prone to errors and mistakes. So we should cross-check first before decided what a vile someone’s religion is

    • Asma Marwan says:

Anggun, thank you for your comment.

Do you know who Theo VanGogh is? Salman Rushdie? Taslima Nasrin? Naguib Mafouz? Farag Foda? Matoub Lounes? Nawal El-Saddaawi? Lars Hedegaarde?

      Islam is as Islam does.

      • Issam says:

You do know that the attempt to assassinate Naguib Mahfouz was widely condemned by the Egyptian establishment? And so was the assassination of Farag Fouda and Matoub Lounes? Nawal ElSaadawi was never persecuted and continues to write and publish her opinions. Naguib Mahfouz, Farag Fouda and Nawal ElSaadawi never questioned the teachings of Islam by the way.

You probably mean that Islam is as Muslims do (not as Islam does, because Islam is not a person) which contradicts your earlier comment that you read the source documents and “watch the internet” to talk about Islam. Yet from your comment here you clearly judge Islam by what some of its followers do, not by what the Quran says. Moreover, since you consider the Ahadith chain of validation a farce then why do keep using the Ahadith over and over again to justify your bigotry and racism? Hypocrite much?

Lastly, do you know who Galileo Galilei is? Nicolaus Copernicus? Franciscus Patricius? Giordano Bruno? Tommaso Campanella? Gerolamo Cardano? Cesare Cremonini? Domenico Scandella? John Bargrave?

Christianity is as the Christians and Popes do.

  8. Amandeep Mangat says:

I have been going through the posts, blogs, and other people’s responses on this website. I have not yet read any scriptures or any kind of text about the religion and nor have I studied the religion. I have however read many posts by different bloggers and journalists. Biased or not, I feel that what is happening with these women is brutal and very inhumane. I have been reading about different events that have took place and just can’t seen to get my head around the fact that there are people out in this world that can even think about doing something so crucial to women. Why does this religion believe women to be slaves of men? Yet, mankind started with a woman. She is the one to have given birth to all these so called “leaders” and “prophets”. Why are women not allowed is Masjids and why do they have to be the ones kept in hiding?

  9. Charles says:

What irritates me ( aside from the treatment of women-which absolutely repulses and angers me) is that followers of the Koran keep intact these aged beliefs about the treatment of women yet happily accept modern commodities and a western way of life. Why not live in the wilderness if the women are to be treated like animals?

  10. topu says:

i believe that all religion is being abused. from islam to christianity its all the same. i absolutely support this site because this is happening to women. men would drink alcohol and sleep around and be called a man whereas a woman, if she drinks merely wud be called a slut! even in western world! women are just not spared in any fucking religion! men keep abusing all! i mean look back at the witch hunt! http://library.thinkquest.org/07aug/01443/fo_religion_christian.html
look at this site. and this tells oprression on both religions

    who said theres allah?

    got proof?

  12. Shafaz says:

One cannot describe colours to the man who was born blind.

    • Asma Marwan says:

Luckily, colors are only the display
      of the material world
designed to appeal to our gross senses,
but not required for one to know the Truth.
